Summary

  Its obvious to me that the media has changed and is changing drastically every day that goes by.  With newspapers, movies, music, and radio all receiving changes constantly--some for the worse ,some for the better--pretty soon anything not up to par with the latest and greatest technology will be forgotten.
  It seems that todays media is solely concerned with making money and attracting audiences by any means necessary.  Im not sure I like the media today very much.  A part of me would of liked to live in a time where music was meaningful, movies were fresh, radio was king, and the newest newspaper hot of the press was something to look forward.
  Technology along with advancements in the media world are forever changing.  Every new thing now will one day be obsolete.  Just as every new thing then, is obsolete now.  Don't get too accustomed to the way the media works today...it will be completely different in a short while.

What happened to the lyrics?

  Songs were once full of poetic lyrics lined with meaning and honesty.  Todays tunes are catchy but the lyrics that fill the song fall flat.  Artist of today make songs that they know will relate to a huge audience, making them money.  For example I've heard songs by a married artist, whose lyrics are about living a lonely life as a single mother with six kids.  These lyrics will relate to people, but do they hold water?
  A lot of lyrics now are only meant to attract an audience, which is depressing because lyrics a long time ago, whether you liked them or not, were honest truths told by songwriters.  It wasn't a question of whether there lyrics would gain a huge world wide audience, but more so "These are my honest lyrics about whats going on in my head or in my life right now...like it or not".
  Every once in awhile an artist will make songs that are meaningful to them.  Songs with lyrics that come straight from the heart of the writer.  And I guarantee I'll be listening to them.

Whats a radio?

  Once upon a time I got great joy out of the unpredictability of listening to the radio.  I remember saying to myself, "oh I hope the next song is good", of course that was a long time ago.  I hardly know anyone--my self included--that regularly listens to the radio anymore.
  Compact Discs are, without a doubt, whats new.  I guess a lot of people got tired of wondering if the next song played on the radio would be a good one or not.  What better way to cure that than to have a CD where you know that every song on it, will be a song that you like.  People want to be pleased these days.
  Sometimes I miss the days when I'd bite my nails hoping the next song would be a song that I would sing at the top of my lungs and put a smile on my face.  What I don't miss, is when that next song played wasn't that at all.

The Money Making Cliches

  When we do something that has a positive result, its human nature that we keep doing that certain something because of the outcome of it.  We stick to what we know.  Thats sort of how it is when it comes to film now-a-days.  How often do you see a movie thats completely original and mind bending?  Hardly ever.
  This is because theres a possibility that that original movie may have a negative outcome and not make money.  Hollywood sticks to what it knows: comedies that make hardly any sense, predictable love stories, and cheesy action films.  These will bring in the money, guaranteed.
  These money making genres are slammed full of cliches; cliches that have been proven time and time again to be visually stimulating to the audience.  But not all of the audience.  Fortunately there are still those like me, who thirst for something that will go against cliches and provoke thought beyond a fairy tale ending thats used time and time again.
